With over 25 years of extensive accounting experience, Bernadette Geahan of Grand Ledge is no stranger to keeping the books straight for both large and small nonprofit businesses.

Since 1996, she has served as the Business Manager and Bookkeeper for Michigan State University’s collegiate publication, The State News, which is one of the largest college newspapers in the nation.

In previous positions, Geahan has served in professional management capacities such as the Office Manager and Bookkeeper for the Greater Lansing Symphony as well as for several nonprofit associations.

Question: What’s the most unusual thing in your desk drawer?

Answer: I always have more rulers than an architect would have.

 

Question: How old where you when you had the worst hair cut ever what style was it?

Answer: If I could remember that far back, it would have to be the ‘super curly perm’. I still have nightmares.

 

Question: If you weren’t doing what you do today, what other job would you have?

Answer: I would love to have been a teacher.

 

Question: What “lesson from mom” do you still live by today?

Answer: “Just do what your supposed to do and don’t complain.” Ok mom, sometimes I just want to complain that doesn’t make me a bad person, does it?

 

Question: If you could be any animal what would it be and why?

Answer: It would be a turtle. I would just step aside and watch the, would be intellects, race to nowhere.
